Internships

During the three years of their studies, all students are mandated to complete an internship at any company. ESLSCA's career office aids students in securing internships.

Educational Weeks Abroad

Students enrolled in the Cinematic Studies program are required to travel to Beirut once a year to complete practical filmmaking courses at St. Joseph University (IESAV), the oldest and most established film institution in Lebanon.

Wael Khairy

Lecturer & Senior Officer Of Cinematic Academic Operations.

Wael Khairy is a lecturer of Cinematic Studies. He is a Rotten Tomatoes-approved critic whose work has appeared in Newsweek, Forbes, MUBI, and The Criterion Collection. Roger Ebert once called him one of the reasons we live in the golden age of film criticism and later invited him to join as a foreign correspondent. For over fifteen years, he has contributed to Ebert’s website and published work in World Film Locations books and academic journals. Wael is a film critic at Cairo Scene and has participated in major festivals, including Cannes and Sundance. He is currently a Golden Globes voter.
George Bartlett

Cinematic Studies Academic Instructor.

George Bartlett is a writer and filmmaker from Birmingham, England, living and working in Cairo. He is a graduate of the London Film School's MA in Screenwriting and holds an MSc in Psychoanalysis from Birkbeck. He was previously an assistant lecturer in film at Queen Mary University of London and is also the founding editor of cinema journal Scenes. His films have been shown at film festivals internationally. His academic research includes the analysis and development of film praxis from a psychoanalytic perspective within the Lacanian Orientation.
