The ESLSCA Case Study Center promotes case study writing through ESLSCA students and faculty members. The ECC’s team guides the writers through choosing a topic of interest, empowering their decisions, and fostering meaningful connections with companies that want to share their experiences to the world.
The ESLSCA Case Center was established by ESLSCA University in December 2023, aiming at becoming one of the top providers of high-quality business cases in Egypt and in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
A case study is an in-depth investigation method that allows for a comprehensive understanding of a specific subject, going beyond what broader research methods can capture. By examining real-life instances, case studies provide a rich context for analysis and interpretation.
In a case study, researchers gather and analyze various qualitative data sources, such as interviews, observations, documents, and artifacts, to construct a detailed and holistic narrative that captures the dynamics and interactions within the chosen context.
Case studies are particularly useful in fields like psychology, sociology, business, and medicine, as they allow for a focused exploration of complex situations. While they offer valuable qualitative insights, they are context-specific and not easily generalized to broader populations.
Dr. Mona holds a PhD in business from Cairo University and a bachelor’s degree in creative writing from Florida State University.
Dr. Mona has 31 years of teaching experience both at the undergraduate and graduate level, at various internationally recognized universities, including the University of Calgary, McMaster University in Canada, the Grenoble Graduating Business School in France, Hamdan Bin Mohamed Smart University UAE, and UBT (University of Business and Technology KSA) to ESLSCA University.
Having successfully led faculty members to success in the past, she is still an invaluable asset in unraveling the market dynamics through case study writing.
Nour has recently received her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in finance with high honors.
During her first year at ESLSCA University, Nour has participated in writing a case study as part of her Multicultural Management Theories course, being among the first undergraduate students to ever write a case study at ESLSCA.
Her dedication has allowed her to successfully complete an internship at ESLSCA’s Research Centre of Excellence, where she developed analytical and critical thinking skills. Nour is committed to contributing her knowledge, hard work, and perseverance to help the case center reach its goals.
Cases are used to put students in the context of a business dilemma, allowing them to apply the concepts learned in the classroom to real-life situations. The case method is a powerful learning tool, as students better recall concepts applied to a case, than theory. Engaging students with cases promotes the development of skills such as decision-making, problem solving, critical thinking, teamwork, and judgement, all boosting employability. These skills are particularly relevant in a highly competitive job market, especially that many businesses use case solving as part of their recruitment process.
The case center for students wishing to further their case solving skills beyond the classroom may participate in various case related activities on campus.
Students nowadays are no longer content with just reading textbooks and taking multiple-choice tests. They are looking for innovation and interaction in their learning experience. Teaching with cases is just the way to do that as it is an interactive tool that puts students in decision making roles. The ESLSCA Case Center provides continuous support and training to all instructors interested in teaching using the case method.
We assist faculty and provide workshops related to curriculum development, case-based course development, teaching with cases, and assessment through cases.
Case Workshop
The ECC will launch its workshop series on the case method. The series addresses various topics to promote the case method to both case writers and case users.
Topics will revolve around, and not be limited to, the following subjects:

The publication award for case studies aims to motivate faculty, postgraduate, and undergraduate students to enrich existing knowledge in their respective domains and disciplines. It also strives to enhance the case study publication culture at ESLSCA University Egypt by incentivizing contributions to esteemed journals. This academic incentive encourages scholars to share their insightful case studies with the wider research community, allowing fellow academics to learn from real-world examples that illuminate theoretical concepts. By rewarding those who publish notable case studies, ESLSCA spurs its students and faculty to actively participate in the collective growth of their fields.
All ESLSCA faculty, postgraduate and undergraduate students are encouraged to submit their best work for this prestigious publication award. To qualify, you need only submit one published case study that lists your ESLSCA University Egypt affiliation. This is your chance to have your research recognized across the university.
Don’t let this opportunity pass you by! Be sure to apply within one year of your case study’s publication date or DOI issuance. Showcase your top-quality research and contribute to ESLSCA’s reputation for academic excellence. The selection committee eagerly awaits your submission – share your knowledge and achievements with us today!
The publication award will be granted for journal articles published in high-quality, peer-reviewed outlets. Specifically, all articles in SCOPUS-listed journals are eligible. Additionally, on a case-by-case basis, the publication committee may consider articles in journals not indexed by SCOPUS but deemed to uphold rigorous standards. These could include impactful case studies. The aim is to recognize and reward excellent scholarly work, regardless of the publication venue, as long as it advances the field through novel ideas, rigorous methodology, and skilled communication. By taking a holistic approach, we hope to incentivize and celebrate a diversity of significant contributions.
The award has a monetary reward and a certificate. If the paper submitted for the award is co-authored, all qualified co-authors are considered applicants and the paper is submitted by one co-author on behalf of all others. If the paper is selected for the award, all qualified co-authors will be
recognized as winners and will share the monetary reward. Articles will be given the following publication award monetary reward:
Quartile | Amount (maximum, in Egyptian Pounds) Only authors with ESLSCA affiliation will be rewarded |
Not ranked (white paper, case study, position paper for instance) | 2,000 |
Q4 | 5,000 |
Q3 | 10,000 |
Q2 | 15,000 |
Q1 | 20,000 |
In the case of co-authored papers, the amount is given to each author who mentioned ESLSCA University affiliation.
Two rewards per year maximum are awarded per faculty member, postgraduate or undergraduate student. Besides, a case study may be awarded only once. The author’s rank has no impact on the bonus amount.
Communications at conferences are encouraged and supported (see ESLSCA ICF policy) but do not give access to awards as they are conceived as the possibility to test, publicize, and improve papers that will be subsequently published in journals.

Researchers may choose to perform a case study if they are interested in exploring a unique or recently discovered phenomenon or learn more about complex situations. The insights gained from such research can help the researchers develop additional ideas and study questions that might be explored in future studies. However, it is important to remember that the insights gained from case studies cannot be used to determine cause and effect relationships between variables. However, case studies may be used to develop hypotheses that can then be addressed in experimental research.
There are two ways of approaching a case study; either conducting a case study with a research perspective or writing a case study with teaching notes.
Case studies provide students with scenarios in which they can begin to think about their understanding and solutions to problems found in real-world situations. When carefully planned, case studies will challenge students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a safe and open learning environment, judgment, decision-making, and action. Case studies also allow students to develop their ability to put themselves in the shoes of another to understand and empathize with another (partner’s) perspective.
Case studies are an essential tool for businesses and professionals to showcase their expertise, problem-solving skills, and successful outcomes. Publishing case studies not only benefits the organization or individual but also provides valuable insights to others in similar situations. Here are a few reasons why publishing case studies is crucial.
